InnovAge Virginia PACE

Regional Executive Director

Having served the majority of my professional experience in the field of aging, I understand the need to provide quality long-term care options that allow our elders, and eventually ourselves, the privilege to grow and age in our own home.

Wanda Cooper joined InnovAge in 2019 and is responsible for overseeing four PACE centers in Virginia. Wanda has more than 20 years of experience working in the field of senior care. Most recently, she worked for the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services, where she oversaw compliance with federal health and safety regulations for PACE participants enrolled in programs throughout the state. Wanda has also managed PACE programs for Lutheran Senior LIFE in New Jersey, as well as the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Nursing in Philadelphia. Wanda attended Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, where she earned her master’s degree in healthcare administration and management.

Seniors have a special place in my heart. John Hoeven said, 'caring for our seniors is perhaps the greatest responsibility we have. Those who walked before us have given so much and made possible the life we all enjoy.' I truly believe that. As a child, I enjoyed going with my mom to visit nursing facilities and seniors' homes in the community. We would sit and read together, sing, and deliver small care packages. After years of doing that, I knew I wanted to work with seniors.

Malaika Mason is the executive director for InnovAge's Blue Ridge PACE center. She was previously center director for InnovAge’s Richmond PACE center. Throughout her 20 years of experience in the geriatric field, Malaika has served in a range of positions, including as site director for a PACE center in Virginia. Prior, Malaika managed recreation departments for multiple adult day centers, retirement communities, and nursing home facilities. Malaika graduated from Virginia Commonweath University with a bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation and an occupational therapy track. She is currently working toward her master’s in health administration from Strayer University. Malaika is married with two daughters, loves music, and enjoys volunteering with seniors.

Regional Medical Officer – Eastern Region

What attracted me to LIFE is its founding philosophy of aging gracefully in place. I believe it takes a village to keep an elder safe at home. My favorite part of my job is interacting with participants. I value the opportunity to care for them, as I learn so much from their experiences, which makes me a better physician and person.

Dr. Luz Ramos earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of the East Philippines and her Master of Business Administration in Healthcare from George Washington University.
